Votive Candle Luminaries Cast a Shadow

What you see flickering on the wall is not real. It is not a monster or a nightmare. It is the result of one little candle transforming its light into shadows in silhouette form. This is what the Votive Candle Luminaries are designed to do. The light from the votive candle shines through an enclosure with cutouts designed to provide a pleasing effect when viewed and also, to cast a shadow on whatever is near it. Votive candles, by themselves, have been used by churches and other religious organizations since the invention of the candle. Ultimately, the material used in these shades is thin wood or even transparent acrylic. These materials can easily be cut into intricate shapes using a laser cutter. A magnificent effect can be accomplished by laser engraving an image in the wood or acrylic shade around and through the cutouts. This single additional step will enable their beauty to be displayed in a fully lit room. This makes the votive candle luminary much more attractive as a decorating item even when the candle is not lit.

Many people use these luminaries throughout the year, but they have their special place during the holidays. It can set the mood for an evening gathering or complement any holiday tradition. Sometimes it’s nice to use them for no reason at all.

Many people think of luminaries as a brown paper bag with cutouts and a candle inside. That is fine when the occasion is right, but when correctly designed, they can add so much more to the elegance of a formal event and retain their beauty when the event is over.

Luminaries need not only be lit with candles, they can be illuminated with a light bulb that simulates the flicker of a candle. This would be desirable in fire hazard areas or where wax buildup is a problem.

Just imagine what a beautiful touch these would add to an outdoor wedding. When the wedding celebration is over, they could be used as wedding favors. As one reminisces through the memories of any or all the holiday activities, ideas seem to pop in your head on how and where to decorate with these luminaries whether inside or outside.
